“Let’s get down to serious business.” This saying has a couple of meanings. One of them is ” Discuss serious matters in a casual, friendly manner. The tone should be light and casual. Don’t use it as a polite way to chat up your date or make your first impression with your new boyfriend. Be sincere in your conversation and you will find that you come across as a real, down to earth person.

Let’s Get Down to Business

The other meaning of this famous saying is “We have a problem, but it’s not going to kill us yet”. When you are having an argument with a person it can often seem like there is no hope, nothing anyone does can be of any comfort. But this saying gives you hope and it says let’s get down to business. It gives you hope because it’s been found that the way to repair things is to discuss them in a relaxed, casual manner that leaves both you and the other person feeling good about the situation.

To be honest I think that the first part of this saying is what lets people know that it’s not going to kill them. But the second part is where they feel inspired to say, “That’s actually something we can all do.” The more words that are used in the second part of the saying the more power it has to get the desired result. And yes it is possible to give someone the confidence to finally say “That’s actually something we can all do”.

When you are in business for yourself, it can be very easy to let your ego get out of control. I have been guilty of this from time to time. I can remember being asked by a very successful person once, “What do you think your clients really want?” I was taken back and I couldn’t help thinking, “What do they want, what do they need, what do they want or need?” And that got me into a whole other mode of thinking.

But if you want to be able to let your ego go then you have to learn how to listen.

One of the biggest things that stops many businesspeople from being effective at any task is that they have a lack of respect for the people that are working for them. They will argue and bicker and tell you things to try to trip you up. When the other person does their job well they will get the respect. So if you are going to build your own business then you have to learn to get down to business.

You also need to understand that some things need to be done on a timely basis. If you are a small business owner then sometimes you have to get things done on a date or within a set time frame. This is especially true if you are the head of a very busy company. You have to be able to deliver. If you let your ego gets in the way then you might be wasting valuable time.

The other thing you need to get down to is that you have to respect the people that are working for you.

As a small business owner you may have to deal with employee issues. You have to find ways to make sure that everyone knows their place. Everyone has to share in the responsibility for doing a good job. When you let your ego get in the way then you may miss out on an opportunity to bring someone in that can help your business move forward.

There are a lot of things to remember when you get down to business. One thing to remember is that it is all about getting results. If you don’t get results then you won’t be successful. Let’s face it, we all want to make money and the easiest way to do it is to get started. Make sure that you are willing to do what it takes. Building a successful business can be very profitable and you should definitely make the most of it.
