KPMG Business Consulting – What it Does and Why You Should Care

KPMG’s recent foray into advising on corporate restructuring and planning is nothing less than impressive. With KPMG partners Mr Amrit Pandurangui, Mr Anil Agarwal, and Mr Srikanth Balasubramanian, KPMG’s new consulting arm, KPMG Enterprise Consultancy Services, is expected to help Indian companies get through tough financial times and come out unscathed. What’s more, KPMG’s consultants will have access to the company’s extensive talent pool, which is estimated to contain several hundred professionals in India, China, France, and elsewhere in the world.

A joint team from KPMG led by Mr Pandurangui, Mr Agarwal, and Mr Ramanathan, the newly formed consultancy, KPMG Enterprise Consultancy Services, will be advised by another KPMG partner, Ms Ramanathan, who was formerly senior vice president of business at the firm. While confirming the move, PwC executive director Roopen Roy told media, “While confirming the move of KPMG Consulting after its acquisition of Andersen Business Consulting Unit, PwC expects a completely new outfit to emerge out of this partnership.”

This is not the first time that KPMG has ventured into business consulting. The company is currently conducting training programs and assisting clients on issues related to their company strategy, product development, and manufacturing, and all of these programs are aimed at providing consulting services that are aimed at solving problems and improving business performance.

KPMG’s new consulting arm is expected to focus on three areas: financial, human resource, and operational processes. It will also aim at providing business services to corporate clients in the IT and Information Technology space. KPMG’s new consulting partner, Mr Ramanathan, who is a former IBM executive, will lead a team that will include former executives from IBM India, Microsoft India, and Fujitsu. Consulting will be done by a team of KPMG consultants from around the world, including former senior management and experienced professionals.

Mr Ramanathan and Mr Pandurangui will report directly to KPMG’s CEO Gurdarshan Singh. In his role as executive vice president of KPMG Enterprise Consultancy Services, he will be responsible for leading the firm’s business consulting activities.

KPMG’s consulting partner Mr Ramanathan is no stranger to the business consulting world, having previously served as senior director at both KPMG India and KPMG International. Mr Ramanathan has also worked in the IBM’s research group, serving as chief of staff, director of research, and chief information officer.

Mr Kulkarni was previously the director of KPMG India, where he managed a large outsourcing unit. Kulkarni had held a number of high-ranking posts at KPMG, including vice president of global process outsourcing.

According to PwC, “As part of KPMG Enterprise Consultancy Services, its clientele will now be provided with access to KPMG’s extensive knowledge base and expertise. Our goal is to provide solutions and guidance tailored to their unique business needs, and to bring together the collective wisdom of KPMG consultants with the expertise of these talented individuals.”

KPMG’s new consulting partner and director, Ramanathan, said he expects to be able to “create a culture and system that supports and enhances the success of our clients in addition to providing them with greater confidence.” KPMG will also use its knowledge and experience to deliver consulting services that help its clientele improve their business processes and operations. Ramanathan said the new team will also work with their client’s senior management and provide analysis on key areas. that will help the consultants to provide better and more effective service to their clientele.
